Tŷ George Thomas

George Thomas Hospice Care was established in 1984 and since then has grown to be the major provider of specialist home based palliative care in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. It has acquired an excellent reputation for the quality of its care and support service, is a well respected local health care partner and provider of palliative care education and training.

In July 2005 after many years of effort George Thomas Hospice Care moved from its then existing cramped premises in Penylan to a new purpose designed and award winning hospice centre in the grounds of Whitchurch Hospital in Cardiff that were formally opened by its Patron HRH The Prince of Wales.

Tŷ George Thomas marks a watershed in palliative care in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan offering greatly enhanced facilities for patients and their families and a marvellous base for the ‘centre of excellence’ for the practice and study of palliative care that George Thomas Hospice Care seeks to provide.
