Give As You Earn

Supporting George Thomas Hospice Care through Give As You Earn is one of the easiest ways of helping us to help others through our care and support services.

Giving directly from your pay means George Thomas Hospice Care has a regular income. This allows us to plan ahead. Even better for you is that it is tax free.

You can give any amount a year to charity through GAYE. For instance, if you give £10 a month, it will only cost you £8.00. This is because the taxman will not take the £2.00 you would normally have to pay at a basic rate of 20%. Instead, it comes to George Thomas Hospice Care. Give As You Earn donations cost even less for higher rate tax payers.
Anyone can join the GAYE scheme if their pay or pension is taxed through PAYE.

The scheme is administered by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), a registered Charity No. 268369. They simply charge an administration fee of 4% (minimum 25p) per deduction.

If your employer is registered with GAYE you only have to tell them who you want to support and how much by filling in a simple form. If they are not registered with GAYE you can obtain a pack for them (or they can obtain one themselves) from:


They will receive a full employer pack, complete with Contract and Payroll Registration Forms, which are signed by an official and returned. After Inland Revenue approval the employer can promote the scheme and start making deductions according to your wishes.

If you are involved in Staff Fund Raising, you can set up a Staff Charity Fund. Employees can pool their donations with those of their workmates in a staff fund which is held by CAF. The group collectively decides which charity or charities they want to support and elects representatives to distribute the donations.

You could even persuade your company to match the amount you donate, thus doubling the benefit to George Thomas Hospice Care. back to top
